Karndean were established in 1973 and started out as a small family business, a very positive trait that still continues today.

Since their beginnings Karndean have continuously grown to become one of most well-known flooring (luxury vinyl tiles, or LVT) manufacturers who offer one of the best available products.

The fact that Karndean has remained family owned has enabled it to maintain their core values of remaining totally focused towards the needs of the customer, while providing them with a high quality and extensive range of flooring tiles and rolls.

This commitment has allowed Karndean to develop new and innovative products that other companies just can’t compare to.

As a result Karndean offer a high quality, indeed luxury vinyl flooring which is luxurious, but continues to be beautifully made and versatile, with selections that will be to everyone’s taste.

The products are hard wearing and stylish and are available in a large selection of colours, textures and finishes that reflect nature, so in particular they have a great selection of patterns that mimic wood, stone, marble, and much more.

One of the main indicators of the quality of vinyl flooring is the wear layer, the protective polyurethane layer that is applied over the pattern to stop it from being scratched, worn, or damaged.

Although Karndean tends to be quite a bit cheaper than Amtico for example (sometimes considerably cheaper), it’s wear layer is commonly 0.55mm which is the same as the Amtico Spacia range.

So in other words you can get roughly exactly the same performance for a fraction of the cost of the big brand (hey, it’s the same with all main brands- 50% of the cost is the name on the box).

This proves that price is not necessarily a good indicator of quality, and if you choose your flooring carefully you can end up with a product that is as good as the better known brands, but that can save you a considerable amount of money.

Karndean has grown to be able to deliver products worldwide, covering North America to Mainland Europe, Australasia and Asia. The company currently employs over 300 people and has technically advanced operation bases, which enable it to provide products to customers efficiently, and cost effectively.

Karndean has a very healthy respect towards the environment, with its products being made of over 50% recycled material. Furthermore, the polymer used to make the vinyl flooring, requires far less energy than traditional materials.

Karndean also applies their special “K Guard Plus” to their flooring, which not only adds protection, but it also makes for easier cleaning.

These products are also made to the ISO 14001 environmental standards, and ISO 9001 quality standards. It is Kardean’s policy to also provide assistance to its suppliers in order to reach these standards, which continually helps to push quality across the board.

It is therefore easy to see why Karndean is regarded so highly in the flooring world, not to mention other walks of life.
